Bremer Lloyd successfully completes nearshore transport for the Wikinger offshore wind park

Saßnitz served as base port, in which the erector ship was loaded with the pre-assembled rotor blades and towers. Thereby was it the destination for our delivery transports.
The Wikinger wind park was built 35 km in front of Rügen with 70 facilities.
The leaves came from Stade and the towers from Aviles in Spain. All 36 trips led through the Kiel Canal.
The Wikinger wind park of the Adwen company, belonging to the Siemens Group, is currently being built 35 kilometres northeast of Rügen and compromises 70 wind turbines with a total output of 350 megawatts. The wind park costs about 1.4 billion euros and is built by the Spanish utility Iberdrola. After the connection, the wind turbines will supply up to 350,000 households with electricity. This corresponds to about 20 percent of the consumption in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The aim was to transport both, the tower sections and the leaves with the same ship, which should alternately call at the port of Stade and Aviles. The choice fell on the “HR Constitution” with 2 x 240 tonnes cranes, which was adapted to the individual transport concept, in accordance with the specifications of the Bremer Lloyd’s engineering department, before the project started. In addition to a multitude of detailed questions, such as the cabotage of the under the foreign flag sailing HR Constitution, the concept includes three key aspects:
Avoid welding and ensure conformable weight distribution by using heavy lift platforms for the tower racks.
The entire concept was implemented according to the guidelines of DNVGL Noble Denton. The prescribed cooling times of welds before a test by the MWS was circumvented, by no further welding after the mobilization of the ship.

With the installation of steel columns to create additional intermediate deck positions, the loading capacity could be increased to 12 blades per shipment. In addition, Dove Tails were welded during the mobilization to the future blade frame positions, so that during the loading, the blade frames could be fixed with sliding twistlocks.
In order to stow the third stack of leaves under deck, the original position of the intermediate deck has left out. Instead, stamps were installed at different heights in the ship, on which the intermediate deck platforms were then placed.

The heavy-lift platforms could be moved with the welded racks as a unit.
The heavy-lift platforms were attached with ISO sockets.

Up to five heavy-lift platforms formed a single unit.
During blades shipment, the heavy lift platforms in hatch nr. 1 were stored.
